Newsworks is partnering with the British Library for its ‘Breaking the News’ exhibition next year which will explore the roles of choice, interpretation, truth and trust in UK news media. <\/p>\n

The exhibition<\/a>, which will run from 22 April to 21 August, will showcase the changing ways people encounter stories today while still being gripped by the same subjects across multiple generations.<\/p>\n

‘Breaking the News’ will also discuss how news becomes news, what a free press means, the ethics involved in making the news and what objective news is. These issues will be set against a backdrop of more than five centuries of British news publication, featuring newspapers, newsreels, radio, television, the internet and social media.<\/p>\n

Newsworks chief executive Jo Allan said: “We are delighted to be partnering with the British Library on their ‘Breaking the News’ exhibition, celebrating  500 years of news. It not only showcases the rich history of news and its importance to society, but also looks at how news is evolving, the importance of free speech and journalism’s growing significance in the digital age.”     <\/p>\n

Ahead of the exhibition, thirty pop-up displays will open at public libraries across the UK on 24 February 2022 through the Living Knowledge Network.
